Monday Murals - Darwin Face and Fortune Teller

I love murals and street art. If you like murals or have a mural you'd like to post, this meme is for you.  Just follow the Linky steps below.  Once you start looking you will find murals everywhere.  The "Monday Mural" meme goes live on Monday at 12,01AM, Perth,Western Australian time. Be sure to link back to this blog and visit your fellow posters. Looking forward to your mural finds this week.  Thanks, Sami.

Painted by local artist MissPolly, aka Polly Jonstone, for the 2018 Darwin Street Art Festival, this mural can be found at 46 The Mall, in Darwin's city centre.

The mural represents local girl - Artia -of Maori and Indigenous heritage, and  how vibrant and young Darwin is, having the youngest median age of any capital city in Australia. In the background the blues and turquoise represent the sea, orange represents the soil, and the pinks and purples represent the Top End sunsets.

Another mural by Miss Polly -a "fortune teller" which appears to have been painted in January 2021 in Austin Lane, in the city's Central Business District.

I've recently posted 2 other murals painted by Miss Polly in Darwin - "The world belongs to those who read" and the "Sturt Desert Rose" . I quite like her style.

    1. Thanks Tom. She's quite good with faces from other art work I've seen from her.

  2. These are both lovely, but I've always been a bit freaked by that third eye like the one on the lady in the second mural. Still, her work is stunning and she does faces very well.

    1. Thanks Elizabeth. A face with 3 eyes is never ok for sure, lol. Although this one actually looks friendly :)

  3. Dearest Sami,
Too bad that she has the 'Danger' sign in front of her mouth...

  7. Beautiful murals, oh, the second one reminds me of our travels in Italy.
Darwin sure has grown, I cannot remember a single mural when we were there back in 1999 - but maybe, as I didn´t know you yet, I haven´t seen one cause I didn´t know what a mural was? (Unlikely, huh, I´m not blind).
Glad the murals are respected and the graffiti is just beside it.

    1. Thanks Iris. I think murals have become popular from about 10 years ago I would say. I doubt they had murals in Darwin back then, it was a very remote place, now it's full of young people and a modern city.

  10. Both are beautiful murals. What a coincident that the danger sign is blocking her mouth in the first mural. Thank you for hosting and have a beautiful week.

  14. What a shame that the construction sign blocks her mouth. You will have to make a trip back there when the fence is removed, Sami. I will be looking forward to the untrammelled view!
