Some of the 25 electrical boxes seen in the town of Silves in southern Portugal during our holidays in July 2022.
They were painted in 2020, through the initiative of the Urban art program in partnership between the Municipality of Silves, and street artist Hélder José "Bamby" and a few other artists.
...Sami, you have collected a wonderful group of utility boxes. They have become popular urban canvases. Thanks for hosting.
ReplyDeleteThanks Tom. I was surprised to see so many in the same town!
DeleteThank you, Sami. Very enjoyable collection you have shared today. Thank you so much for hosting us. Wishing you a beautiful week ahead
ReplyDeleteThanks Cloudia. Glad you enjoyed them :)
DeleteSome of these are quite lovely. Most impressive use of the utility boxes as their canvases. I just wish they would do that in my city. I'm also delighted you are hosting this fun weekly event.
ReplyDeleteThanks Elizabeth. Amazing how such a small utility box can become a great work of art.
DeleteGood ones.
ReplyDeleteThanks Catarina.
DeletePainting these boxes is a very good idea. I wish they would do it here. These are great.
ReplyDeleteThanks Sharon. Something so small but with such a big impact in our vision.
DeleteBeautiful artworks.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jim
DeleteA beautiful collection. these ugly metal cabinets deserve to be hidden under a beautiful paint
ReplyDeleteThanks Kwarkito :)
DeleteUtility boxes definitely make a perfect host for really imaginative design work. We have a number of them in our town that are similarly decorated. Yes, they are murals but also fit a category all their own.
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting!
best… mae at maefood.blogspot.com
Thanks Mae, glad they are also being painted in your town :)
DeleteThey look so much better than a boring grey box. Quite a few boxes are being painted here now.
ReplyDeleteThanks Andrew, that's nice to hear Melbourne utility boxes are also being painted.
Deleteutility boxes are so much more interesting when they are painted in a theme.
ReplyDeleteThey sure are, thanks Amy.
DeleteUtility box mural! How unique!
ReplyDeleteThanks Roentare :)
DeleteGreat idea to beautify the utility boxes. Have a great new week.
ReplyDeleteThank you Nancy :)
Deletewow! This is a great way to beautify the electrical boxes. I hope I will see such murals in Singapore too...
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!
Thanks Amila, enjoy your week too :)
DeleteTalento português.
ReplyDeleteBoa semana
E mesmo! Obrigada Pedro
DeleteThey are all so beautiful!! I think the fisherman is my fav (despite I don´t like fish much and Ingo bored be "to death" with fishing in Carnarvon, thanks to books I´m still alive).
ReplyDeleteHere we had one very beautiful one from artist Ente on a box (I showed you 2020) - Telekom put their ad over it, so sad).
The fisherman is a great one, looks like it could be on a canvas hanging in people's homes. What a pity Telekom put their advert over the mural.
DeleteTo color these ugly boxes is a wonderful idea.
ReplyDeleteThanks

DeleteThese paintings are masterpieces.
ReplyDeleteThanks Romytisa.
DeleteThere are almost too many to contain them all but beautiful they are. Still nice additions to the streetscape.
ReplyDeleteThanks SC.
DeleteI am always amazed you find so many murals in your place.
ReplyDeleteThese were taken during our trip to Portugal in July/August
DeleteIt really does make sense to add beauty and charm to these utilitarian objects found in every town and city. We should adopt the practice here.
ReplyDeleteI agree, a good idea to beautify public spaces. Thanks David
DeleteI love all of these -- so much better than dull gray metal boxes!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jeanie. Your comment had gone to spam.
DeleteIsn't it wonderful when a city is beautified in this way?!?! Other places should learn from this!

The fisherman one caught Eddie' eye, he enjoys fishing when the weather is good, it's much too cold at the moment.
Enjoy your January days.
All the best Jan
