Painted for the 2018 Darwin Street Art Festival, by Vincent Poke, AKA Pokatronic, at the Darwin Plaza in West Lane, Darwin.
This Darwin based artist is influenced by pop, Japanese and graphic styles, and the mural is an interpretation of what it's like to live through and deal with the "build up" - in the Territory weather cycle, where the heat and humidity build up leading up to the wet season.
The build up is a famous part of Territory weather cycle where the heat and

Sugar skull in meltdown mode. It's certainly unique and thought provoking. Merry Christmas to you, too, dear Sami. I hope yours is safe, healthy, and joyous.
ReplyDeleteThank you Elizabeth. A much quieter Christmas this year.
Delete...we have had a melt down here too, but not as extreme has yours. Thanks for hosting and Merry Christmas to you, Sami.
ReplyDeleteThis is a Northern Territory meltdown. Their weather is very hot and humid, luckily Perth doesn't often have humid days.
DeleteThe Christmas-light kangaroos on this post and on your header are really terrific!

DeleteMerry christmas for you and your family. And thanks for the beautiful pictures you share.
ReplyDeleteThanks Kwarkito. We are lucky to have so many talented artists who are always painting beautiful murals.
DeleteThe mural is a good representation of what I imagine the build up to the monsoonal breaking might be like. Awfully uncomfortable and that's what the mural says.
ReplyDeleteA very merry Christmas Sami.
I agree, I imagine the humidity would be terrible! Thanks Andrew, have a wonderful Christmas too.
DeleteNice meltdown mural. No meltdown here. Too much rain here. Terrible flooding in many areas.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear Nancy. Terrible weather related events all over the world!
DeleteGreat mural, Nice pics.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas to you and your family. Stay Safe.
Thank you Rupam, keep well and stay safe too.
DeleteLove all the Christmas-decoration and wish you and your family a very happy time!
ReplyDeleteOh, yes, the humidity in / around Darwin.
Did you know potatoes, if kept in the car,.... smell like foul fish after a while in that climate. And that it´s handy to have a man who does not puke "fishing" them out? It was plain awful! We knew we had no fish!
LOL, oh the potatoes went bad with the humidity, yukksss!
DeleteI find the heat in humid weather is unbearable, glad Perth hardly ever has humid days, so even though it can get hot, it's not too bad.
Um bocadinho assustador.
ReplyDeleteBoa semana
E preciso gostar de humidade para se viver em Darwin na epoca das chuvas. Obrigada Pedro
DeleteAmazing that you can stil find new one's. I have to look in the archives...
ReplyDeleteThese are still from my trip to Darwin in September and I still have more. But I have found at least 3 new ones in Perth recently. Thanks Marianne
DeleteNice that melting skull. It gives two indications in one and everyone knows what the artist is meaning.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure they do, at least they do if they live in Darwin, lol. Thanks Stefan.
DeleteAll the very best to you and your family, Sami. I am sure your holidays will be a whirlwind of social activity! I will doubtless be exhausted later when you post your monthly roundup!
ReplyDeleteThanks David. I actually think this December has been a lot quieter than normal, but I've taken 2 weeks off work, so just relaxing a bit.
