What did you have? I only was at SA Essentials in Perth (with Hannelie, who grew up in SA) and was astonished to find Knorr, Maggi... all the "German" stuff. We bought biltong, but I didn´t like it, jerky is way... oh forget about that ;-)
I wasn't hungry so only had a toasted chicken mayo, the others had lamb curry. Never been to SA Essentials, but I think it's just a shop with South African goodies, right? Not a fan of biltong or jerky...
DeleteYes, just products. Can get them right here. I miss going out for lunch or such. 14C again, cloudy. Some "summer holiday" (Ingo has two weeks off)).

ReplyDeleteYes, the food was tasty and not expensive. You can also go there for coffee and cake instead of lunch.
DeleteWas it good? What did you have for lunch? Was it African? We have a very traditional Ethiopian restaurant in town and the food is delicious there. They don't dumb anything down to cater to the general public, so when you go there it is the real deal.
ReplyDeleteI wasn't too hungry so went for a toasted chicken mayonnaise sandwich, the others had lamb curry which was very nice. But I left some space for a delicious slice of Milk tart. They serve traditional South African foods. I've never eaten Ethiopian food in Perth.

DeleteJust looking at the name of your first restaurant made me thirsty. Have not been in a restaurant for at least six months. Hope we get a vaccine for this virus soon so we can resume more normal lives.

DeleteI don't think we have any such restaurants or cafes like that here. There are specialised eastern African restaurants.

ReplyDeleteThanks Elizabeth. We are doing well in Perth, our borders still closed to the other States as our Premier doesn't want to open them up until all other States have the virus under control. Yes, Melbourne in the State of Victoria, had an outbreak due to the fact that people that were in hotel quarantine after returning from overseas, were actually having "encounters" with the hotel security, that was meant to be there to make sure they complied with quarantine! In the meantime they were all having fun together, and the guards then started infecting people outside and it started galloping them there. Now a lot of suburbs are in lockdown, and surrounding States closed the borders to Victoria.
