Monday Mural - Native Birds

While visiting the Bull Creek Shopping Centre for last week's mural, as I walked around to where I had left my car, I came across another mural painted in November 2016 by Fieldey and Year 11 design class students from Melville Senior High School.

The 30mt x 2,5 mt (98,4ft x 8,20ft) mural took 3 days to paint and features local bird species such as the crow, ibis and galah which were painted by Fieldey, while the students and two art teachers - Ali Blackwell and Jenna Antoniolli contributed to the patterning.

Fieldey was born in New Zealand in 1980, moved to Norfolk Island (a tiny Australian island in the South Pacific ocean) as a young child and has been residing in Perth since 2007, having started her art career as a surfboard artist.

Thanks, Sami.

  1. As you might imagine, Sami, I am enjoying this mural very much. The birds are even rendered correctly. I think that Australia is the mural capital of the world.

    2. In your comments on my mural you asked "Are the boats pulled by cows?" I believe using the bathtub was the artistic license of the artist. He seems to have a great sense of humor and contributes at least a couple of wonderful murals every year.

    1. It's strange that the original Woolworths in the States and UK have closed their doors, but here we have a thriving Woolworths, but they are a supermarket.

  17. Olá, Sami!
Os murais são lindos. Por aqui, não encontro murais de que goste, embora tenha visto nas notícias que agora em Lisboa, estão a fazer alguns em bairros sociais, para atraírem turistas àquelas zonas.
    Beijinhos e boa semana!
