Thanks, Sami.
When I visited on Sunday 20th 2019, the artist, Kerise Delcoure, was still at work on the 50 meter wall (164ft) she nicknamed "The beast", which she's been painting during the last 2 weeks of school holidays.
I spoke to her briefly, and she mentioned she was a teacher (Visual arts I presume) and she had been painting the mural with the help of volunteers.
Only half the mural is being painted now and the other half will be done during the December school holidays, so I'll have to remember to go back and take photos of the finished mural.
Her compositions are nature based with emphasis on Western Australian native animals and plants.

...those are some mighty beautiful beasts!!! Thanks for hosting Sami.
ReplyDeleteThanks Tom :)
DeleteI love the colors and the images!
ReplyDeleteThanks Pat.
DeleteWhat an amazing artist. I love the beach colors she chose for these creatures. Not sure I would call it a beast, except it must have been a beast to cover so much wall. Lovely find and great that you caught the artist at work, too.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you on the name Elizabeth, but I assume it's just the sheer size of it.
DeleteYou have shown us murals of native birds before -- what a wonderful subject for outdoor art!
ReplyDeletebest... mae at maefood.blogspot.com
Birds and flowers seem to be popular subjects, I've seen a lot of them lately. Thanks Mae
DeleteBeautifully done!

Thanks Padre :)
DeleteDearest Sami,
ReplyDeleteGlad you got to go in time to meet with her in person and to see her work in the making.
That is quite an educational project too. Don't forget to get back in December!
Hugs,
Mariette
I will certainly go back to see the progress Mariette :)

ReplyDeleteThanks Bertie, usually birds and flowers are painted in bright colours, here pastels were used.

ReplyDeleteThanks Marianne :) I was glad she was there when I visited.
DeleteVery lovely birds but it lacks a bit the rawness of the original murals of the 70s and 80s.
ReplyDeleteThanks S.C.
Deletethis birds are quite charming and i like the style of the drawing
ReplyDeleteThank you Kwarkito.
DeleteFantastic!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful week!
Thanks Lea, have a lovely week as well :)
DeleteThis is going to be so pretty with those colours.
ReplyDeleteI think so too Jackie :)
DeleteThis might be one of my favorites, Sami! Love the birds!
ReplyDeleteThank you Jeanie :)
DeletePretty birds! That will be lovely when it's finished.
ReplyDeleteThanks Linda, I'm sure it will :)
DeleteIt must be difficult to calculate how much paint would be required to cover a surface that size.
ReplyDeleteI have no idea how they even draw in such a huge scale and how they calculate how much paint they will need. Thanks Revrunner.
DeleteGosh they are so lovely Sami, glad you got a chance to chat to the artist. I didn't realise Willy Wagtails were so vicious, they look so small and cute.. you can see why I fled now hey 😊
ReplyDeleteThanks Grace. The wagtails are very protective, I suppose all animals are, and some get more aggressive than others. I felt sorry for my cats when I saw the sores on the top of their heads, but they learned not to mess with them :)
DeleteOhhh, Ohhh That wren - massive cheer from me for this! Love the style, see if she'll come to my house in Victoria and paint a massive Wren on it for me!!
ReplyDeleteAre you paying well Wren? I'm sure she will go if you do :)
DeleteI do like the colours used … very nice paintings.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
Thanks Jan.
DeleteThanks Agnes.
