End of year parties & Happy Christmas

On Thursday the 23rd November I joined my son and daughter in law for dinner to celebrate my grandson's first birthday. How time flies...

My husband who has been working in Sydney for a few weeks arrived home on the Friday in time for little Josh's proper birthday party with his little friends from day care and play group plus their parents, which was held on Saturday 25th.

On Sunday 26th, we joined my work colleagues and partners for the Clinic's Christmas breakfast at Mr Walker restaurant  right on the Mends street Jetty, from where you catch the ferry to the city across the Swan River. The restaurant is really well located and I can imagine the city views at night would be amazing.

When breakfast finished we wandered across the road to Mends street where a street market was being held.

On the corner of Mends Street just across the jetty a new building is coming up. With just 12 luxury apartments I was curious to find the price they were being sold for.
Just check out the Echelon apartments video to see what you can get for a mind boggling AUD$5,6million for a 3 bedroom, 3 bathroom, 2 garage apartment just across the road from the river with city views
I'll have to start playing Lotto, there's only 5 left!!

South Perth foreshore - luxury apartment for sale. The Penthouse apartment on left of bottom photo is also for sale, price on application only...
As we returned to our parked car the Intellibus came past us. The driverless bus has been on a trial for over 1 year and it has a long list of passengers wanting to travel on it. There is someone inside who can take over control in case of need, but up to now it has won approval of all that have ridden on it.

Two weeks ago I finally had some time to make home-made Christmas presents - soap, foot balm and Lemon butter.
At work the 6 receptionists all make a personal gift - fudge, jam, rocky road, etc and it all goes in a nice gift bag to give to the Doctors. This year the Drs will get a jar of Lemon butter from me.
The soaps (recipe here) and foot balm will be given to friends who will join us at home for our Christmas celebrations.

Another year is coming to an end, and I was fortunate enough to have had a great year, travelling, meeting family, celebrating my grandson's 1st year and all his milestones and good health too.

Thanks for accompanying my journey this year and hope to see you again next year.
So much I saw and did this year is still to be published, but there's always next year.

To all of you I wish a wonderful Christmas and may the New Year be the best ever!!

  2. You really have great colleagues there.
Good luck with the lotto-thingy! The view is great, but the style is too cool for my liking, I prefer warm wood (that´s what I say from here, maybe if I was in Perth I´d love cool!).
Wow. The Intellibus sure is impressive, if a tad scary, though, too.

The foot balm is nearly empty, can I come to your house for Christmas? ;-)
I´d need to play lotto, first, too.

The decorations sure are much more creative and bigger than over here.
Thanks for taking us with you through the year.
I wish you a wonderful Christmas time with family and friends, Sami, and all the best for the New Year! Xx

    1. Next time you visit remind me and I'll make some more foot balm. I use it on dry hands, or on my lips if they are dry or cracked.
Last year you were at my place for Christmas, how time flies.

    1. Obrigada Francisco, nem acredito que já passou 1 ano desde que nasceu. O autocarro ainda é experimental mas está a ser popular.

  4. I so enjoyed catching up here after a long stretch of busy months that didn't leave time for visiting my favorite blogs! What a shock to see your grandson celebrating a year old - I remember clearly when he was born! This is when it really starts to get fun, though. He'll be crafting and playing games with you very soon!
Your gifts to the doctors are thoughtful and practical. I love yours - especially the lemon butter!

    1. Thanks J. I can't believe how quickly one year has gone by. The gifts are small but all home made so I think it's a lovely thought.

  5. Dearest Sami,
Oh in my previous comment I forgot to mention that Google street car you captured on photo. It is funny but on Google I found once my Parents' home where our rental car stood parked beside the home. How small that change is?!
This is unique too for riding on that Intellibus; however weird it might look...
You indeed can look back on a very special year with lots of memories, including this 1st birthday of your grandson.
Cute little home made gifts you created for Christmas giving.
    Sending you hugs,
    Mariette

  7. Love the Christmas kangaroo. You must take care not to mix up the ingredients for your three gifts. Great photos of Perth and the seasonal celebrations.

  8. I was really impressed with those luxury apartments and your various get-togethers, too. Your grandson looks like he had a great first birthday. Wonderful.

So is that melt and pour soap? I've never tried it if it is. The molds are fabulous looking, though.

I want to wish you a very Merry Christmas and a joyous, safe, and Happy New Year, too, dear Sami. I'm SO glad I found your blog.

    1. Little Josh has a wonderful time on his birthday.
The soap (recipe on link) is made with olive oil, copha (hydrogenated coconut oil) and lye/caustic soda. The molds are the silicone ones used for cakes.
Thanks so much for your kind comments Elizabeth and have a wonderful Christmas.

  13. Hi Sami, I came over here to thank you for leaving such a nice comment on my Marmelade Gypsy post and I fell into this and wow! A wonderful Christmas you had! It looks beautiful there. And warm. (Minus one here in Michigan when I woke up!). I love the idea of making something from each person for the bags for your doctors. Very clever and all your gifts look and sound wonderful. I hope the rest of your holiday is terrific!

    1. Thanks for your return visit Jeanie. Yes we are in Summer, so our Christmas's celebrations are very different from the Northern countries.
Hope you had a lovely Christmas too.
