Monday Murals - The beast
Painted in April 2016, for Public Form 2016 at Curtin University, by Perth artist Hayley Welsh. A lot of her murals feature this type of creature. I managed to get there when she was halfway through her mural. For other murals from around the world please click on this link.
Her creatures do look a little sad but the quotes she writes beside them are always quite inspirational. I really must get down there Sami, not so much to take photos but more just to see 😊
Thanks Grace, he does look sad. I didn't see a quote, maybe that was painted later. Maybe next time we meet up you could come this side of the river and I'll take you to Curtin Uni.
I had intended to get here sooner, but I've really just been too sick to get out of bed for days.
I was impressed with how the area was cordoned off allowing the artist time and space to work.
I thought this was a very soulful beast. I enjoyed the symbolism of the crown and the "back pack" of books. Not sure what it all means, but it certainly gives rise to good conversations. Thanks for sharing these photos with us.
Thanks for your visit Elizabeth, hope you are feeling better. I've been away from the computer, just read emails via my phone as I have family staying with me.
Dearest Sami, Indeed it is a rather grim beast... Love its eyes! Your photo where the eyes are not been done yet, is such a stark contrast with the end result. Hugs and happy Sunday, Mariette
Looks a bit sad. But a crown and books by a university has to mean something. Thanks for showing.
ReplyDeleteNot really sure what it means, but the monster does look sad.
DeleteGostei mesmo muito deste mural.
ReplyDeleteA Sami descobre com cada um mais giro! ;-)
Beijinho e Bom Carnaval!
Obrigada Sandra. Bom Carnaval Sandra, por aqui nao se festeja.
DeleteThis is a nice and lovely beast.
ReplyDeleteThanks Karl.
DeleteThe beast is wearing a crown. Must be king of beasts, but that does not seem to be making it happy. Interesting mural.
ReplyDeleteA sad little king or Prince. Thanks for your visit.
DeleteDespite the sad look... the eyes are really beautiful! And awww, crown and books, very cute ensemble.
ReplyDeleteThanks Iris.

Delete...a shy little thing!
ReplyDeleteThanks Tom.
DeleteThe beast looks a little depressed. Nice find!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your visit Betty.
DeleteI love the eyes but they are so sad looking. A crown and some books make the beast a king for the day. Nice photos and thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThanks Bill, they do look sad, he's probably carrying a weight of the world's problems on his back.
DeleteThat's a beast. It's so cute. Love those beautiful, sad eyes!
ReplyDeleteIt's lovely watching an artist and work, is it not?
Thanks Nambiar. Lovely to see the artists at work.
DeleteAlways nice to see the artist in action!
ReplyDeleteThanks Marianne, nice to see the artists at work.
DeleteWho wouldn't be drawn to this sad-eyed, bookish, furry little prince. Thanks for contributing to this week's Monday Mural.
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting O.D.P.

Thanks Wren. Family still here for almost 2 weeks, so we're still doing a lot of sightseeing. Hope you are enjoying your time in Thailand.
