One of the murals painted for Public Form 2016, in April this year. This one was painted in building 208 at Curtin University by Perth artist Jessee Lee Johns.
As with some of the other murals painted during this time I was able to catch the artist at work, and this one right from the start.

Sami.great to see it in progress.
ReplyDeleteThanks Tom.
DeleteThat reminds me of sending a postcard home to family in time!
ReplyDeleteGreat to see how it's done.
Oh yes, the postbox in the corner. Thanks Iris.
DeleteLots of fun to see this in progress! And to capture the artist working step by step! What a dizzying and intriguing perspective this one makes. Since most of the murals you show are so fascinating, they've always seemed to just appear magically over night. I feel as if we've caught Santa in action this time!
ReplyDeleteThanks J. It is nice to see the artists in action.
DeleteHow wonderful to see the mural come alive.. It must be hard to get the perspective right on a huge one like this.
ReplyDeleteThanks Marleen. I agree it must be difficult to paint a huge mural.
DeleteWhen we post pictures with murals, we can't really see how big they are, but this one is massive! Much work has been done by the artist, but the result is great.
ReplyDeleteThanks Clara, glad you liked it.
DeleteThis is spectacular. I often wondered how they got those murals on tall buildings, and your photos have shown how. I love the in-process shots and they tell a very telling story. Thanks for sharing both the completed mural and the artist at his work.
ReplyDeleteThanks Elizabeth, a lot of preparation goes in before the mural is painted...
DeleteThat is always nice to follow the progress in a work by the artist. You caught it very well, had to go by several times I suppose?:)
ReplyDeleteI think I went past the university 2 or 3 times to get pictures of the various murals being painted. Thanks Marianne.
DeleteAnother fabulous mural! Every time I see your shots of the art at Curtin it makes me want to head out there Sami, maybe after Christmas 😊
ReplyDeleteYou should visit Grace, lots to see there! I can always meet you there.
DeleteI really would like to catch up Sami, it's going to be hectic for both of us until after Christmas, but soon after we'll organise something if you like.
DeleteSure Grace, Iris would also like to see the Curtin murals, so we could get together for that, but might have to be on Wed.11 th Jan, as my family is here until 7 th.
DeleteSounds good Sami. Have a happy Christmas, so exciting to have a new baby in the family 😊
DeleteThanks for showing us the process of creation. Thanks for contributing to this week's Monday Mural.
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting ODP.
