Thanks Sami

Murals at the rocky beach in Sliema, Malta when we visited in June 2026.

In the alcoves under the street the walls were all painted with murals, probably quite old, already quite damaged by the seaside conditions.

Seen in a staircase leading to a beach bar in Sliema.

Mural seen in the Maltese town of Buggiba, as we walked from the ferry into the city centre.

  1. Sami, Malta look to be a mural and sunshine destination. The ones on the wall down by the ocean look like freedom walls. We have a few were anyone can paint. Thanks for hosting and I wish you a wonderful week.

  2. Dear Sami,
It seems there’s a trend toward cartoon-style murals in Malta. While it might not be the style that excites me the most, it’s clear that the artists are incredibly talented.
And yes, I’m familiar with murals that have already been damaged by water, wind, and weather—we have some like that here along the Danube Canal, for instance. However, after some time, artists eventually come along and paint over everything with something new.
Unfortunately, I don’t have much to offer you today—at the end of our stay in Canada, I only managed to find one painted telephone booth. I thought it was so lovely, though, that I hope you’ll find it suitable and sufficient for your link-up!
All the best from Austria 🤗

  3. You found a lot of murals in Malta - and many of them seem to be similar to many paintings here with letters and cartoons.
Have a good time and all the best

  4. I wildly guess that the duck and the green face murals might be political.

  5. I sadly found the Grinch here this morning, too. But I love Donald (the Duck!!!!) - that´s how I´d look like, if I could ;-) Have a great week, Sami. You made me re-think and I´ll put the grinchy stuff away.
