These signs are from the small town of Cowramup (pronounced Kuh-wara-mup) also known as "Cowtown".
The name doesn't actually come from the abundant cows in the area, but from "place of the Cowara bird" in Aboriginal language.
With about 2000 residents, the town is located just 12km (7,45mi) north of Margaret River, in the South West region of Western Australia, or 257km (160mi) from Perth.
You have to drive past it on the way from Perth to Margaret River where we spent 4 days with the visiting family, and it's always a delight to stop even just to wander around and see some of the 42 cow statues, visit the quaint shops selling soaps and other home-made goodies, candy, local olive oil, etc, many with cow related names, and have a coffee or other beverage of course.
During the Christmas season various cows sport outfits with Christmas greetings 😄
For other signs please visit Tom.
Wishing all the blog readers a wonderful 2020!

DeleteDearest Sami,
ReplyDeleteLove the parked bike with the flower basket on the front, next to the cute cow sign.
Funny that name selection if it did not actually derive from this mammal...
Happy 2020 for you and yours.
Hugs,
Mariette
